Accessible Dental Care with the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)

At City Smiles Dentistry, we’re committed to making oral health care accessible and affordable for every member of our community. That’s why we’re proud to participate in the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)—a new federal initiative helping eligible Canadians get the dental treatment they need, without the financial burden.

What is the CDCP?

The Canadian Dental Care Plan is a government-funded program designed for Canadians who don’t have private dental insurance and have an adjusted family net income under $90,000. The plan helps cover the cost of essential dental services so you can maintain a healthy smile without the stress of high dental bills.

Who Can Apply?

You may qualify for the CDCP if::

✅ You don’t have access to private dental coverage
✅ You are a Canadian resident for tax purposes
✅ You and your spouse (if applicable) have filed your taxes
✅ Your household income is less than $90,000 per year

What’s Covered?

The CDCP offers coverage for a wide variety of dental services, including:

Preventive and Diagnostic Care::

✅ Dental checkups and exams
✅ X-rays
✅ Cleanings and fluoride treatments
✅ Sealants to help protect teeth from decay

Basic Dental Services::

✅ Fillings
✅ Root canals
✅ Non-surgical gum treatment

Major Services::

✅ Dentures and repairs
✅ Crowns
✅ Some oral surgeries

Please note: Certain treatments may require preauthorization and are subject to coverage limits. Our team at City Smiles Dentistry will help you understand what’s included.

How Much Will Be Covered?

Your level of coverage is based on your household income::

✅ Under $70,000 → 100% of eligible CDCP fees covered
✅ $70,000–$79,999 → 60% of eligible fees covered
✅ $80,000–$89,999 → 40% of eligible fees covered

Keep in mind: CDCP coverage is based on government-established fee guides. If our clinic’s fees differ, you may be responsible for the balance. We’re happy to go over any potential costs before your treatment.

How to Apply

Applying is quick and easy through the Government of Canada’s website. Once approved, you’ll receive a CDCP membership card to bring with you to appointments.

Additional Information for CDCP Patients

✅ Preauthorization: Some procedures may need prior approval. Our staff will assist with the process.
✅ Other Coverage: If you’re receiving dental benefits through another government program, the CDCP may coordinate with that.
✅ Annual Renewal: CDCP benefits must be renewed each year. Ensure your renewal is complete before June 1, 2025, to avoid any lapse in coverage.
